By late 2005 we had 12 players that would show up at every tournament. At this time Scott K (a regular Brick House attendee) approached Bryan G (founder of the Brick House Poker Game) with an idea to form a poker team. After considering the idea and doing a little planning, Scott and Bryan presented the idea to the Brick House regulars in February of 2006.At the outset of the poker team we had 10 team members. After a couple of months, one of our team members quit the team because he was too busy but by this time we had three other Brick House Players that were interested in joining the team. So in mid 2006 we brought on three more team members, bringing our membership to our current total of 12.
Each team member pays monthly dues (currently $15/month). Then once every two months the team gets together on a Saturday and has two poker tournaments. Players are awarded points based on their finish in the team events and the players with the most points at the end of the day will get to take the pooled money (team dues) and use it to enter a tournament at a local casino. When a team member is representing the team at an outside event, any winnings they are are split between them and the team. The split is as follows: 40% goes to the player who won, 40% gets split evenly between the other team members and 20% goes into the team pot to send us to future tournaments. All team members own an equal share of the team pot. Obviously there is a lot more planning that goes into the team but this is the general concept.
